I still using the iPhone 6s as my children’s gaming phone. Slap a new battery and I believe I can still use the phone for daily use. What’s amazing is that it still support the latest iOS update (iOS 14) despite it was released in 2016. I cannot think of any andriod phones that was released in 2016 what is still being supported by the manufacturer, let alone being relevant. That all being said, I believe that are better alternatives on the market if one is looking for a new budget iPhone.

I present you the iPhone SE 2:-

iphone SE 2

It was updated in 2020 with the A13 chip which powers that iPhone 11 Pro and price starts at $399. It’s actually water resistant so I don’t worry if the phone accidentally took a swim, it has upgrade Touch ID (the one with the fake buttons) and have wireless charging. It also can actually fast charge if you connect it to a iPad charger or a large charge. And finally when I travel (remember planes??), I can actually put in a eSim to use local lines.

With iPhone 6s and SE being offered for starter bundles in telco companies, the differences is so small in terms of cost that if does not make any sense getting the iPhone 6s at 2020 unless you are looking for a throwaway phone.

With phone line bundles, you can get the iPhone SE at free or at most around $5 / month for 30 months. This means for the default iPhone, the iPhone SE bring a lot of great value to the table which far exceed what the iPhone SE can throw at. With the quite powerful A13 bionic chip, you can guarantee that the phone will be supported for Apple for at least until 2024 or 2025, which is like forever in the phone world.
