Apple is trying to grow its business beyond the phone, and the living room, front door and thermostat are next. At its October 2026 event, Apple announced Apple Home Collection, a lineup of smart home accessories developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, alongside a new $299 HomeView smart display, a new Apple TV 4K and a new HomePod mini.

The collection is a series of smart devices you control through the Home app (formerly HomeKit) or through Matter, the cross-brand smart home standard. HomeKit has been around since 2014, but until now Apple mostly let third-party brands build the hardware. This time Apple is co-developing the accessories with its partners, which signals a more serious push into the home.
