Apple recently showed a behind the scenes view of their latest hit show, Severence. In that featuratte, Ben Stiller, the show creator/director is working with Geoffrey Richman, his editor, is seen arranging and discussing about the season finale. The behind the scenes look highlighted a few of Apple products, notablably Macs that help create a potentially Emmy-winning series.
One noticable fact that is shown on the scene is they are just using baseline Macs like iMac, Mac Mini, and MacBook Air. Not the high-end ones like the Mac Studio and MacBook Pro like what you are expecting from professionals of this calibre. So what gives? Do we really need a Mac Studio to deliver high-end results?
Do Really Need A Mac Studio?
I make it easy for you. If you have to ask this question, than the answer would be:

Buying a Mac at this level is different that buying a Mac Mini for yourself. At this level, you are not seeing it the same as buying for personal reason. The Mac Studio is a business expense that will be levelized for years, and in some case, for a project.
Another reason why people buy a Mac Studio is because they need the horsepower. Apple might show that the Mac Mini is enough to edit a potential Emmy-winning series, but there is a few things in the background that they did not show. For example, VFX or Visual Special Effects are not shown. Those things will require a powerful graphic cores that are only available in the Mac Studio. One thing that is not mention is proxy editing, where the clips and scene are rendered on another computer or server instead of the Mac Mini. This will significantly reduce the load on the Mac Mini itself.
But …
However, the Mac Studio does exists to help people with a niche problem. If you are doing VFX, building private AI models, or need a Mac that can do heavy lifting building a 3D model from thousands of photos that you take, than yes, having 512 GB of memory in a single unit of Mac is essential.
